In this podcast I was interviewed by the Belt and Road Institute in Sweden (BRIX), presenting my assessment of the recent EU-China Leaders Summit. I tried to offer advice on how to deal with the crisis in Ukraine and how to understand China’s position towards Russia. Thoughts also on how Europe should relate to Russia now and when peace is restored in Ukraine.
Unfortunately, geopolitical tensions and different ideologies dominated this meeting which should have been, instead, an opportunity to find a common path between Europe and China on which to make agreements. Sometimes the European Union makes the mistake of thinking that it can deal with foreign policy which, however, remains in the autonomous hands of the individual states.
